Kagawa fires Dortmund past Hoffenheim

Soccer Betting Lines

01/28/2012 - Dortmund, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Shinji Kagawa netted a pair of goals to lead Borussia Dortmund to a 3-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday at Signal- Iduna-Park, extending Dortmund's unbeaten run to 13 games.

Goals from Kagawa and Kevin Grosskreutz in the first half gave the home side a two-goal advantage at the break, which Kagawa extended with his second goal of the contest in the 55th minute.

Fabian Johnson's goal in the 63rd cut into the deficit, but there was no way back for the visitors at that point and they have now won only once in the past nine games.

Sebastian Kehl set up the first goal by swiping the ball from a Hoffenheim defender and playing it to Kagawa for a simple finish.

Grosskreutz made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark when he stabbed home a cross from Jakub Blaszczykowski, while Grosskreutz and Kagawa combined on Dortmund's third goal with the Japanese midfielder applying the finishing touch.

Johnson's goal arrived eight minutes later for Hoffenheim, which has slipped to eighth during its poor run of form.

Bayern Munich 2, Wolfsburg 0

Munich, Germany - Bayern Munich used second-half goals from Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben to record a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Bayern was looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat to Monchengladbach last time out but had to wait until the 60th minute to grab the lead as Gomez saw his header blocked, but followed up and scored from six yards on the rebound.

The points were then secured in stoppage time with a fortunate goal from Robben. Wolfsburg's Felipe Lopes cleared a shot off the goal line from Bayern's Ivica Olic, but his clearance struck Robben in the stomach and found its way over the line.

Bayern has won four of its last five league matches and remains level on points with both Dortmund and Schalke at the top of the table.

Schalke 4, Cologne 1

Cologne, Germany - Schalke came from a goal down at halftime to claim a 4-1 win at Cologne on Saturday, with two goals coming from Ciprian Marica.

Lukas Podolski surprised the visitors with a goal inside three minutes for Cologne, and it held up until the hour mark when Marica leveled the contest for Schalke.

The Romanian doubled his tally 12 minutes later to put Schalke into the lead, and things got worse for the hosts when Miso Brecko was hit with a red card in the 77th minute.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar converted a penalty kick to make it 3-1 in the 78th, and Marco Hoger capped the scoring four minutes later to complete Schalke's fifth straight win.

Augsburg 2, Kaiserslautern 2

Augsburg, Germany - Augsburg and Kaiserslautern both remained in the bottom three on Saturday after playing to a 2-2 draw at the SGL Arena.

Marcel De Jong fired Augsburg in front after five minutes, but his opener was canceled out midway through the first half by a goal from Florian Dick, who found the back of the net again shortly after halftime to put the visitors in front.

Stephan Hain then leveled the contest for good in the 66th minute, preventing Kaiserslautern from leaving with all three points and holding the club to its fifth successive draw.

Augsburg moves off the bottom of the table on goal difference with the result, while Kaiserslautern remains in 16th.

Hamburg 2, Hertha Berlin 1

Berlin, Germany - Hamburg responded from its loss to Borussia Dortmund last time out by handing Hertha Berlin a 2-1 defeat at the Olympiastadion on Saturday.

The loss to Dortmund snapped a nine-game unbeaten run for Hamburg, but Marcell Jansen's goal midway through the opening half put the visitors into the lead before Mladen Petric doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time.

Hertha was able to pull a goal back nine minutes from time through Pierre- Michel Lasogga, but it wasn't enough to prevent the home side's winless run from extending to eight games.

Werder Bremen 1, Bayer Leverkusen 1

Bremen, Germany - Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen finished in a 1-1 draw at the Weserstadion on Saturday, keeping both sides at arms length from the top four teams.

Claudio Pizarro tallied the opening goal in the 29th minute when he brought down a cross from Tom Trybull and smashed the ball inside the right post.

But Leverkusen pulled level in the 57th when a corner kick from Michal Kadlec was headed home by Stefan Reinartz, with Bremen nearly snatching the win in the final 10 minutes as Markus Rosenberg's shot struck the post.

Bremen is five points back of fourth-place Monchengladbach while Leverkusen remains one point behind the home side.

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship

(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.

One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.

MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.

Michael Vick is back, Brett Favre isn't and the NFC East remains the best division in the NFC, maybe in all of football.

As players start to gather for the start of another season, some things change and some stay the same in the world of the NFL.

Bet 2010 Super Bowl Odds

The NFC East has been the dominant division in the National Conference for a while, despite limited playoff success, save for the New York Giants surprise Super Bowl win two seasons ago.

Hell, there's a generation of kids in Texas who have never seen the Cowboys win a playoff game (last win was in 1996).

But collectively, the Giants, Eagles, Cowboys and Redskins (well, maybe not so much the Redskins) are as good as a division gets in an NFC conference that has struggled to stay competitive with the AFC side.

Sports bettors have both acknowledged the NFC East's dominance, as one glance at the NFL future odds menu will show.

Looking over the NFL betting odds at online sports book MySportsbook.com we see the top three teams listed to win the NFC Championship are all from the NFC East:

Dallas Cowboys - 7 - 1

Philadelphia Eagles - 13 - 2

New York Giants - 9 - 2

Slotting in behind these three are two teams from the NFC North: the Minnesota Vikings (15-2) and the Chicago Bears (10-1).

Again, despite the lack of recent playoff success, the Dallas Cowboys are popular with the sports betting community, as they hold 14% of all the money wagered on who will win the NFC Championship.

So far, the New York Giants are the bettors' favorite to represent their conference in the Super Bowl, as they have 24% of the overall NFC Championship betting volume.

And what about the Philadelphia Eagles? For the most part, the Eagles had a very productive offseason, the kind that could bring them back to the top.

They had a good draft adding the likes of WR Jeremy Maclin and RB LeSean McCoy.

Unfortunately, the team received a blow when long-time defensive coordinator Jim Johnson passed away on Tuesday.

But this team will make a real run at the division title this year. Going into the regular season, Philly is listed at +240 to win the division.

Last season the Eagles were 9-6-1 SU and 10-6 ATS.

Teams from the NFC East will play teams from the AFC West in the regular season and the Eagles haven't really been a good bet in the last 20 games against the likes of San Diego, Oakland, K.C. and Denver, only going 8-12 ATS.

Two seasons removed from that Super Bowl title, the New York Giants see themselves listed as the odds-on favorite in NFC East championship futures at +162.

Plaxico Burress is gone and with him all the bad publicity surrounding the gun in the sweatpants incident, but can they replace him in the offense?

Last season the Giants were a very reliable bet going 12-4 ATS.

In the Giants' last 20 games against fellow teams from the NFC East; they are 13-7 ATS.

Dallas is listed at +240 to win the division.

Dallas went 9-7 SU and 7-9 ATS last season and with the amount of talent the Cowboys have, a similar performance won't do.

The Cowboys have been atrocious against divisional rivals, going 6-14 ATS in their last 20.

The Washington Redskins are longshots to win the division at +550.
